Care and Feeding
Q. How many Mystics can one Home hold?
A. A Home can house up to 12 Mystics.
Q: How will I know if my Mystics are eating?
A: Your HUD will display how much Food is left in the targeted home, and you will also be able to tell visually by looking at the Magika Berry Vine on the outside of their Home. The more Berries there are, the more food is available to them. If there are no Berries, your Mystics are out of food!
You can also check through your Personal Profile: simply wear your HUD, click the Login button, choose Go To Page on the dialogue box, and navigate to the Pets tab. From there, you can see a wealth of information about each of your pets — including their level of hunger.
Q: Can I feed another Player’s Mystics?
A: Certainly! If you have Magika in your Magika Vial, you can help another Player’s Mystika Berries grow by clicking on their Home and selecting how much Magika you’d like to add.
Q: What happens if my Mystics starve?
A: They will run away! Don’t worry, they end up in good hands. You can call them back at any time, though it will cost you 99 units of Magika.
Q: Will Mystics get sick?
A: Mystics do not get sick or require medication.
Q: Will my Mystics die in my inventory?
A: Mystics never die, just to be clear. But they can’t access their food while in your inventory – and if they stay without food for too long, they will run away as soon as they’re rezzed again.
Q. Will my Mystics sleep?
A. Mystics have no natural desire to sleep: no matter when you want to play, they’re awake and ready! But if you’d like them to hide in their Homes (and not take up prims on your land,) you can press the SLEEP button to have them go in their dens and rest.
Q. Will Mystics eat while they sleep?
A. Indeed: though they’re curled up comfortably in their burrows, they’ll still eat just as much and as often as ever.
Q. Will they breed while they sleep?
A. They will breed while in Sleep mode, and they will still go through all the stages of their cycle – but they will not finish the PetalPod until they’re out of Sleep mode.
Q: How do I gain experience and level up?
A: Mystics gain a little Experience every time they eat. You can also help them gain experience by interacting with them in certain ways: currently, by breeding and hatching offspring, or by Fusing them with one another. Learn more by reading the Experience section of the Game Manual!
Q: Will you sell boosters or potions that increase stats or speed up time?
A: No, there are no boosters; every player has the same odds, levels in the same way, and plays the game at the same speed.
Growing and Breeding
Q: How are Mystics born?
A: Mystics are born from PetalPods – nest-like structures that Mystics construct from the petals of a special flower. A PetalPod provides warmth, sustenance, camouflage, and protection for the blind, hairless Mystic as it finishes its final stages of development. When a Mystic is born, it emerges from this PetalPod.
Q: Will I know what type, gender, or traits a Mystic has while it’s still a PetalPod, or do I have to hatch it first?
A: By clicking the blue Login button on the top of your HUD, then following the given link you can access your Personal Profile, where you can view all that information and more while your Mystic is still within its PetalPod – or at any time!
Q. How long does it take for a Mystic to become an adult?
A. A Mystic reaches Maturity at 4 days old. If it hasn’t been Paired with a Partner by this time, it will realize it’s lonely.
Q. How long does a Mystic actively breed?
A. An adult Mystic is able to breed until it’s 66 days old. At that time, it will become a Supreme Mystic, and will not be able to have any more offspring.
Q: How long is the gestation period / How many days does a Mystic carry its young before the PetalPod can hatch?
A: A PetalPod is ready to hatch 6 days after conception.
Q. Will they have more than one baby at a time?
A. Not at the moment. Each breeding will result in one offspring.
Q. Can I interbreed my Mystics?
A. A Mystic will only breed with others who are once-removed from their direct bloodline. That means a baby cannot breed with its mother, father, sister, or brother, but can breed with any other relative.
Q: Can I partner my Mystics with those belonging to another player?
A: Currently, you cannot, though it’s something we are considering.
Q: Are there real genetics?
A: The current system is somewhat different. With real genetics, results can be guessed and repeated very easily: for example, if one party discovered a new rare Species, they could reproduce them easily and reliably – saturating the market and making them much less rare. That removes very important elements of gameplay – and it strongly favors those few players who find things first and can immediately corner that market. We do indeed have recessive genes in the Mystics, but this method helps them remain difficult to reveal and hard to pass on – which preserves the integrity and the rarity of that creature. Ultimately, it also allows for more diversification.
Q: Why can I pair same-gendered Mystics?
A: Because every creature deserves a partner, and while same-gendered partnerships will not result in an offspring, we intend for them to have benefits to their entire den later on.
Performance
Q: Will I be able to hold and teleport with my Mystics?
A. Sure! If you Wear your Mystic, you’ll carry it in your arms – with a lovely cuddling animation. If you Wear your Mystic on Avatar Center, it will walk alongside you! In both cases, you can teleport without damaging the Mystics in any way.
Q: What is the Land Impact of a Mystic, and how laggy are they?
A: The creatures have a Land Impact of 5. That’s it! While our content is extremely high quality, we have kept all of our material strictly beneath a 6 LI factor so it does not inhibit your enjoyment or impact the performance of your region. We are proud to say their optimized coding has made them the most efficiently performing pet possible.
Additional Features
Q: Will I be able to put unique outfits or costumes on my Mystics?
A: You can give any Mystic a single-serving Costume Potion to give it an exciting new appearance! That new look is a permanent option for your Mystic, and you can toggle it on and off at any time. Costumes will NOT affect stats or influence breeding in any way: they’re just a fun way to show off some style!
Q: Will there be Avatars of Mystics?
A: Yes, there will.
Q: Can I have a non-breeding, non-eating Mystic just for a pet?
A: Absolutely! You can get a free Mystify Wand that will cast a spell on your pet – a spell that removes its need for food, but also makes it unable to breed. (Though the wand itself is free and can be used many times, each use costs 299 Magika.)
Commerce
Q: Is there a dedicated region where official Mystica content is sold?
A: Yes indeed! Not only does it sell everything you’ll need to get started with the Mystics, it’s expanding to include content that represents the world of Elarra. You can find it HERE
Q: How can I sell or trade a Mystic?
A: If you wish to sell or trade a Mystic, you must first move it out of its current Home by using the MOVE OUT Tab on your HUD. Then you can take it to your designated shop, or trade it to someone who has a Home with at least one vacant spot for it to move in.
Q: Will you place any restrictions on sales within the secondary market, such as price requirements?
A: No. While we feel it is important to passively observe the secondary market and it’ trends, we will not be actively participating. We feel that is not our territory.
Q: Will this game favor big breeders who spend more money?
A: No, it will not. We have gone to great lengths to ensure that every breeder has the ability to discover and reveal new game content.
Stories and Lore
Q: Do I need to read the stories to be able to play?
A: Not necessarily! But the stories do help provide some context for the game – and game and the narrative will become even more closely linked as the game develops further.
Q: What is the Gray?
A: Even the finest scholars on Elarra still aren’t sure what the Gray is, or how it works, or how it came to Elarra. All anyone knows for certain is that it destroys Magika – which threatens all Magical life.
Q: What is Magika?
A: The environment of Elarra, the world the Mystics are from, is rich with a naturally-occurring element called Magika. Magika is necessary for the survival of all Magical life – much as water is necessary to life on Earth – but it’s also necessary for the existence of Magic itself. Without Magika, Magical creatures cannot sustain themselves, spells can’t be cast, enchantments stop, and protective barriers fall. Earth has no Magika; it was lost long, long ago. In order for Mystics, or their food, to thrive here, Magika is imported all the way from Elarra – and, due to its rarity, it’s also used as a currency.
Q: What is Mystica?
A: Mystica is the largest landmass on Elarra. It’s phenomenally diverse, featuring dozens of different biomes, and it’s also the home of the Elarran civilization – and of The Magic Academy.
Q: What are the Houses of The Magic Academy?
A: The Houses are similar to the departments of a University on Earth: each one has a special focus of study.
The House of Killdorian focuses on all the ways through which Magic can influence matter.
The House of Spectra specializes in the study of Magical flora and fauna (and all the compounds that can be derived from them.)
The House of Grimthane centers around works of engineering that combine the magical and the mechanical.
The House of Vex is not spoken of in civil company.
Q: Is aligning myself with a House Mandatory?
A: No, it is not. Like other elements of the story, it helps give more interesting context to gameplay.
Q: What benefits are there to aligning with a House?
A: As the game evolves, Houses will be linked to certain professions. Currently, however, there are no direct benefits.
Support
Q: Do you have a support team if I run into trouble?
A: We will always have someone on hand in-world to offer you help, if needed! That said, we’ve put most of the tools normally reserved for customer support right into your hands. Our system lets you recall lost pets and redeliver purchases that never reached you – right from your Personal Profile. Your content is stored externally, which keeps it safe from any of Second Life’s internal vulnerabilities.
If you need help with something that you can’t accomplish through your Personal Profile, you can also submit a Support Ticket, and someone will assist you as promptly as possible!
Q: How will you handle updates?
A: Thanks to our heavily optimized process, it will be a breeze. Immediately after you put on your HUD, it will detect any new updates and deliver the new HUD to you. It will also automatically update any Homes or Mystics on the same region, if they haven’t received that update already.
Q: Will you provide documentation in multiple languages?
A: Yes, that is definitely part of our plan. Our goal is to adequately serve everyone equally.
Q: Were or are you affiliated with any other breedable pet projects?
A: Two of our three Developers were indeed part of other breedable projects in the past, in some capacity, but none have any current affiliations with other breedables.
Q: What makes you different from other Marketplace breedables?
A: Many things separate us from others. Though we don’t view things in terms of competition – we believe there are many ways to entertain and to create exciting and memorable experiences, and there’s a place at the table for everyone – we did want to occupy a seat we felt was empty.
With The Chronicles Of Mystica, you participate in a fully-realized world supported in an immersive story where you, the player, are vital: you’re not simply breeding strange and stunning creatures, you’re helping to save their lineage, and their world, from an existential threat.
All our assets are made entirely in hand-textured mesh, creating the most detailed and distinctive breedable creatures on The Grid – and all of them, including the Mystics themselves, have Land Impacts lower than 6!
Exciting new coats can be discovered through gameplay, and limited-edition coats of varying rarity will be available as well – in addition to Costume Potions that can give any Mystic a wild new look.
Through it all, your older Mystics will NEVER be obsolete and will always possess some value.
The scripts are optimized to run as smoothly and efficiently as possible, helping ease lag (and keeping more memory available for interesting features!)
Behind the scenes, our backend keeps your game data secure, leveraging Second Life’s advantages and protecting from its weaknesses (no matter how fickle the asset server may be!)
A harmony of design, scripting, and storytelling, the Chronicles of Mystica is a breedable experience like none other on SL.
Q: Will you be around for a while?
A: We hope to be here and in your service for a very long time!
