Mission Statement

Since its founding in The Year of the Segreant Yassara, the Magic Academy has been dedicated to one mission: the discovery, preservation, and advancement of Magical knowledge for the betterment of all Elarra.  

Today, we face a crisis. Places once rife with Magic have become barren lands. Creatures that thrive on Magic have been driven to near-extinction. In the regions hardest hit, once-powerful Magicians have almost completely lost their powers. The Gray has come, and our way of life – and Magical life itself – is threatened. An Earth-based scholar might compare our crisis to a slow but inexorable loss of the oceans, or of oxygen, or of sunlight.
 
Now more than ever, the Magic Academy is committed to preserving the Magical Arts, Magical life, and elemental Magika itself. We are leading the way in the effort to harvest and stockpile Magika for generations to come. We are herding all creatures great and small to protected regions so we might help them survive. And, through it all, we are continuing our mission to educate, preserve, and serve.

But we cannot do it alone.

The Gray is swallowing up more of our lands by the day, and despite our greatest efforts, we have been unable to drive it back, to slow it, or even to understand it.. Our Sky-Scholars have found only one other world where Magika once existed, though it died there long, long ago.

And so we have decided to begin sending some of our precious native creatures to that world.

To Earth.

As our test case, we are sending the Mystics. These hardy, diverse, and magnificent creatures thrive in every region of Elarra – but their breeding grounds are directly in the path of the Gray. Our research shows that they might fare well on Earth, as well. If this mission proves successful, other species may be sent, in due time.

We are also sending some of our reservoirs of Magika, enough to nurture the Mystics in their new home. There on Earth, safe from the spread of the Gray, perhaps our most vulnerable creatures can survive while we, in the path of danger, try to learn what is happening and how it can be stopped.
 
Perhaps you residents of Earth can be of more help than we know.
